Red Braised Beef || The Dawn of China's Muslims

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 Toasting spices ½ tbsp black peppercorns 2 star anise 3 bay leaves 1 cinnamon stick Spring onions (stalks only) Ginger (sliced) 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce 2 tbsp brown sugar Salt to taste Pak Choi Chilli peanut oil Garlic (finely diced and minced) 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 1. Cut your beef into pieces, place it into cold water then bring to a boil and remove excess scum. 2. Toast your spices, and set aside. 3. On medium heat, add oil to a pan then add meat, and cook until browned. 4. Add freshly chopped spring onions, ginger, light and dark soy sauce and sugar. Mix until it’s all together. 5. Add your toasted spices, alongside your doubanjiang (bean paste) and then cook on a low heat until soft. Add some salt to taste. Pak Choi 1. Wash and drain your pak choi. 2. Finely chop some garlic. 3. On medium heat, add oil to a pan, then your garlic. 4. Mix, and after about 30 seconds add your pak choi, and a slight amount of water. Cook until the pak choi has wilted, remove excess water and add salt to taste. #history #china #beef #rice
