This helps remove excess starch that can make the rice sticky. Ratio: Use a 1:2 ratio of millet to water for a more separated grain texture. For 1 cup of millet, use 2 cups of water. For soft millet rice add 2.5 to 3 cup water for 1 cup millet. Cooking Method: 👉👉Stovetop Method: In a saucepan or pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the rinsed millet and optional salt. Reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and let it cook for 8-10 minutes @low heat. After 10 minutes, turn off the heat and let the millet rice rest for a few minutes. Fluff the millet rice gently with a fork to separate the grains. 👉Rice Cooker Method: Follow the same rinsing process for the millet. Place the rinsed millet, water, salt, and oil(if using) into the rice cooker. Turn on the rice cooker and pressure cook for 1 whistles @medium heat and simmer for 7 minutes. Done, let it rest for a few minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve: Your perfectly cooked millet rice is ready to be served as a side dish or as a base for other recipes! Remember, different types of millet might have slightly varied cooking times, so adjust accordingly. Enjoy your delicious and nutritious millet rice! ========================================== 👉Does millet need to soak before cooking? Millet doesn't necessarily require soaking before cooking, unlike some other grains like rice or beans. However, soaking millet for 15-30 minutes can offer a few benefits: For maximum benefits soak minimum 6 to 8 hour. Reduced Cooking Time: Soaking can slightly reduce the cooking time of millet. Improved Digestibility: Soaking grains can help break down phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that can hinder the absorption of minerals. This can potentially improve the digestibility and nutrient availability of millet. If you're short on time, you can skip soaking millet and still achieve good results by rinsing it thoroughly before cooking. If you decide to soak, drain the soaking water and rinse the millet before cooking to get rid of any residual anti-nutrients released during soaking. Experiment with soaking times to see what works best for your preferred texture and cooking process. ****************************************** #howtocookmillet #milletrice #cookingmillet Music: https://www.bensound.com Subscribe for more recipe: / @bhusanur.cooking
