Ise Jingu has been a pilgrimage destination for well over 1000 years. For some, it's simply a serenely beautiful and historic place to visit. But to many others, this sacred forest is the closest place to God in the human world. But why is this place so special to Japanese people? Last time (in part 1) we visited "Geku", the Outer Shrine. Along the way, we'll talk about some history and culture associated with this amazing place in order to understand its special significance.
