Discovering your "like" is the entrance of your "witchness"「好き」の発見こそ、魔女への入口 | KOYUKI | TEDxKobe

Fingerstyle guitarist KOYUKI came to be interested in "Witch" because she was impressed by a witch named "Elphaba" in the musical "Wicked." For her, "witch" is the symbol of a way of life that allows us to believe in ourselves no matter what situation we're in. And KOYUKI herself also wants to be like that. At the TEDxKobe stage, she expresses her idea about the "magic" everyone has, using her words and music. Let's listen to her original tunes, "Green Witch," "TIME TRAIN," and "Edelstein," choked with her messages. Learning piano from six to twelve, she started playing guitar at ten and was interested in country music, often heard at Tokyo Disney Land in her childhood. At eleven, she first experienced a live guitar performance by Tommy Emmanuel, the "God of Acoustic Guitar." Shocked and impressed by his fantastic stage performance, she dreamed of being a guitarist. She participated in a fingerpicking competition just ten months after she started playing guitar. After that, she participated in various competitions and won prizes at the youngest age in history. Domestic and overseas artists highly evaluate her unique composition method and worldview, using both guitar and piano. Her YouTube channel, which she started in 2015, now exceeds 4 million views. KOYUKI has many fans overseas as well as in Japan. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
