Improved More Accurate Transcription of Alphonso Johnson's superb bassline and bass solo and his ad-libs during the Outro;-) Although I did a bass cover of this some time ago, I pulled out my Finale v.27 transcription and did a careful listening again and again yesterday and many, many notes are corrected now including many riffs, improvs and nuances due to my being able to hear the notes and then locate the notes on the fretboard for you to view. The transcription is six (6) pages that is being sight-read in this video. Song is from George Duke's LP, 'The Aura Will Prevail' released in 1975. This was recording attempt number 2. Link to the original recording:    • Malibu   Alphonso Johnson rose to fame with Weather Report and then made some remarkable solo LP's . Together with George Duke, Alphonso Johnson created an amazing groove and played an awesome bass solo with his fretless bass. I saw Alphonso play with Weather Report in Detroit in 1974 and with George Duke together with Billy Cobham in Detroit in 1975 or 1976. This cover was a pleasure to transcribe note-for-note and is a tribute to my bass hero Alphonso Johnson. My bass in this video is a customized* Fender Precision Classic 50's Series in Sunburst with a gold anodized pickguard and solid maple neck, Made in Mexico. *My expert guitar luthier replaced the standard capacitor with a genuine vintage Zenith capacitor manufactured between 1955 and 1959, producing this wonderful full tone. My strings are flatwound Galli Jazz Flats medium gauge Long scale manufactured in Italy. Bass Guitar volume 10, Bass Tone 10.
