South Australia to send officers to Alice Springs to assist NT Police amid youth curfew | ABC News

South Australia Police will send 20 officers to Central Australia from next week after a request from the Northern Territory police commissioner. NT Deputy Police Commissioner Martin Dole said the additional police would allow continued "high presence, high-visibility policing" in Alice Springs, where a two-week youth curfew, due to end on Wednesday, is in place. The government invoked emergency powers and instituted the curfew following a series of violent incidents in Alice Springs. Deputy Commissioner Dole also said the additional officers would allow some other officers in Alice Springs to return home, after the NT government redeployed 60 police from around the Top End to the town last week.
