S Jaishankar was in Austria on the second leg of his two-nation (Cyprus and Austria) tour. This is the first EAM-level visit from India to Austria in the last 27 years, and it takes place against the backdrop of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2023. Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar in an interview with ZIB2, a podcast on Austria's national broadcaster ORF rebuked Pakistan for its role in promoting cross-border terrorism. When asked if the world has to be concerned that someday there could be a war between India and Pakistan, the minister said, "I think the world needs to be concerned about terrorism.” External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has slammed the slow pace of the U.N. reforms, saying those who are enjoying the benefits of permanent membership are not in a hurry to see reforms.
