Roy Orbison Tribute - A Black & White Night Revisited by Preston Coe and Friends

A reverent live tribute to the music of Roy Orbison including full band, strings, and back-up vocals. This show is not an impersonation or an impression of Roy Orbison. This show is about keeping Roy Orbison's music in its original style alive in our culture. Preston sings this music with his own heart and emotions and is not trying to be Roy Orbison. Let's face it, no one will ever be the iconic musician, singer, and song writer that Roy was. This demo includes cuts from: Claudette Only the Lonely Uptown In Dreams Mystery Girl You Got It Running Scared California Blue Mean Woman Blues Crying Oh, Pretty Woman. This concert was recorded live in Budapest, Hungary at the New Orleans Club on October 24, 2024. A word from Roy Orbison Tribute Artist, Preston Coe: I was raised in Texas where many early Rock and Roll and country artists started their musical journeys. I discovered the music of Roy Orbison when I was about seven years old. You see, six days before my seventh birthday, my biological father, Roy Chappell passed away while water skiing in Lake Grapevine, Texas. Sometime after that, my mother gave me her old 45 record player and two full boxes of 45s, among which were a few of Roy Orbison’s. I remember reading his name and connecting instantly to my father. I played the first one entitled Crying, and tears fell down my cheeks at the beautiful, vulnerable, and haunting voice coming from the small speaker. I was instantly enchanted, and Roy’s music became part of my story from then on. In the eighties, I was so happy to see him making a comeback. The Black & White night I have owned it on both CD and DVD and have worn them out. These days, I still listen to him frequently on Spotify. His music never gets old to me and is imprinted on my heart. The seed of Black & White Night Revisited was born in 2010. I had been performing on Cruise Ships and included two medleys of Roy’s best songs in my shows. Although I sang a lot of different styles and artists’ music, Roy’s songs were what the guests always wanted to hear. It took me awhile to save enough money to make this demo, and finally we got to the point where we could attempt to capture the feel and sound of that very special night in Los Angeles so many years ago. It is my hope to bring that live feeling of this wonderfully nostalgic music to audiences everywhere. I hope that in doing so, Roy’s fans can relive some of the memories his music gave us, and to perhaps introduce his music to the younger generations, who may not have had the opportunity to hear his songs yet. Thank you for helping me keep Roy's legacy and music alive in our collective culture. FOR BOOKING: Please contact Anita at [email protected]
