On February 10, 1998 the USMNT beat Brazil for the only time. Kasey Keller had 10 saves, Preki the game-winning goal, and the US stunned Romario and the defending WC champs 1-0 in the Gold Cup! [Full Highlights] Not too much to say on this one other than that it’s one of the greatest USMNT victories of all time, and their only win against Brazil in 19 tries. Brazil of course, the defending World Cup winners and the #1 team in the world. There is a synth-pop song that commemorates the game, “Kasey Keller” by Barcelona, released in 2000. He actually did have hair for a short while there. Keller 10 saves and then the amazing Preki goal, his second game-winning goal in less than 3 days for the US in the Gold Cup. Romario shaking Keller’s hand after the point-blank save is one of the most iconic USMNT images, Romario later saying that it was the best GK performance he’d ever seen.
