Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Sabaic, also known as Sabaean, is a South Arabian Semitic language once spoken in the ancient kingdom of Saba (biblical Sheba) in present-day Yemen. It belongs to the Old South Arabian language group, which also includes Minaic, Qatabanic, and Hadramitic. Sabaic was written in a distinctive script, a South Arabian alphabet similar to early Semitic alphabets, primarily inscribed on stone monuments, temple walls, and coins. The language dates from around the 8th century BCE to the 6th century CE and is known through thousands of inscriptions. It faded away following the rise of Arabic after the Islamic expansion. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations. Ge'ez is an ancient Semitic language originating from the Horn of Africa, specifically Ethiopia and Eritrea. It served as the liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Eritrean Orthodox Church, and Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jews). Historically, Ge'ez was the language of the Aksumite Empire and a medium for its administration, literature, and inscriptions. While it ceased to function as a spoken vernacular centuries ago, it remains preserved in religious texts, liturgies, and cultural traditions, influencing modern Ethiopian and Eritrean languages such as Amharic, Tigrinya, and Tigre.
