So what is an ALT blood test? What is the normal range and high for men and women in the UK and US? These are the questions we'll be discussing in this week's video. An ALT blood test is usually part of liver function tests (LFTs) and it is also known as Alanine Aminotransferase - a useful blood test to check for liver damage. ALT can also be used as part of monitoring of liver disease function. A raised ALT for men is usually above 50 UI/L and for women its 40 UI/L.
