This is a series which is currently broadcasting in Iran. It has 42 episodes and produced by Sima Film. The film shows how Shia has always been oppressed during the course of history and also shows how the sighs of the oppressed pursue the oppressor. Who was Mukhtar ? He was a Shia Muslim leader who set up a movement in 686 A.D in the town of Kufa to avenge the death of Imam Hussein (AS). When Yazid I, the third Umayyad Caliph, took power in 683, an increasing number of Muslims were dissatisfied with their government, and the hereditary succession of men they saw as usurpers of rights and oppressive rulers. The uprising started in 686 AD from Kufa , Modern Iraq. He was uprising on behalf of Imam Ali's son Hussein (A.S), after he was martyred in Karbala by the army of Yazid. Al-Mukhtar was in prison whilst the tragedy of Karbala was taking place. After he was out of prison, he found out about what happened in Karbala and set out to avenge the death of the grandson of prophet Muhammad(PBUH) .
