The Telangana government’s decision to auction 400 acres of land inside the University of Hyderabad, with a base price of Rs 10,000 crore, has triggered protests. Bulldozers began demolishing rock formations and lakes 20 days ago. Students teachers, and activists have formed a Joint Action Committee to oppose the sale, demanding the land be officially registered under the university. A public interest litigation has been filed, with the next high court hearing scheduled for April 7. Meanwhile, 53 students were detained, with two PhD scholars still in judicial custody.
