Meet a graduate of Conestoga’s Hearing Instrument Specialist program, Madisson. Students like Madisson have a passion for helping people and Conestoga is the place to learn how to do so in class and in the real world. There are in-class theoretical teachings, but there are also labs where you can apply your knowledge in hands-on situations. When discussing the end of the program, Madisson tells us what was so great about these hands-on courses, “You get to work with actual people who are patients, and kind of deal with things as they come to you in real time. You’re not learning about it and, you know, applying it later, you get that real life experience in class.” The smaller classroom settings allow you to work with other students more closely than a university lecture hall. This allows you to create and nourish good working relationships with your peers which is excellent practice for your future positions alongside colleagues. The hearing instrument industry is evolving, Conestoga is a school that keeps you up to date on new technologies in testing for and creating new hearing aids.
