Solo Hiking in Sweden || Solo Backpacking Europe Tips || Askeryds Stenbrott

Solo hiking in Sweden can be a very different experience depending on which part of the country you are in. The mass landscape of the south of the country is perfect for light hiking or camping adventures, but the north of Sweden is a completely different story. Places like Sarek, Abisko or the biggest mountain in Sweden, Kebnekaise, are true wilderness and require a lot of preparation before going on a trip. In this video I visited a remote trail located on the remains of an old abandoned quarry. Askeryds stenbrott is a historic and scenic abandoned granite quarry located near Askeryd in Sweden's Jönköping County. The quarry is notable for its unique "Askeryd granite," often referred to as "Tranås red ruby," due to its vibrant red hue caused by high potassium feldspar content. This granite, known for its fine grain and durability, was mined here from the 1950s to the 1990s and used globally for architectural projects, sculptures, and gravestones. Notable examples include the Hiroshima Monument in Tokyo and decorative facades in cities like Milan and San Francisco. The quarry spans about 30 hectares and includes remnants of the mining era, adding an intriguing historical element to its natural beauty. Visitors can find unmarked trails and explore areas around the quarry, including views of the nearby Västra Lägern lake. The lack of formal signage and its remote location contribute to its tranquil and untouched atmosphere. The site is also home to two species of orchids, highlighting its ecological significance. For hikers, there is a wind shelter and a grill area, making it a serene spot for a break amidst the Nordic wilderness. The quarry's unique combination of natural, historical, and cultural significance makes it a hidden gem worth exploring. If you need solo backpacking Europe tips, Sweden is the country for you. _______________________________________________________________________ Equipment I used for this video: A-roll camera is Canon R10 with lenses, Canon RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM and Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM The equipment for B-roll footage: GoPro Hero 7 Iphone 15 Pro Max with ProRes Gimbal OM4 Drone Dji Mini 2 The editing software is DaVinci Resolve Studio edition If you liked solo cinematic hiking film, hit the like button and subscribe to the channel so that this video can reach more people. ▬ Contents of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - Solo Hiking Sweden Intro 01:10 - Askeryds Stenbrott the beginning of the trail 03:20 - Nordic natural beauty 08:03 - Coffee on the trail and a special view Instagram:   / ervinslens   Where I get my music:https://www.epidemicsound.com Song: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/v... #sweden #hiking
