TRANSCRIPT EXTRACT 1. Should I move to South Australia to increase my chances of State Sponsorship? The whole of South Australia is regional for the 491 visa. There are extra incentives built into the Australian Immigration system for those to study and live in regional areas. These include an extra 5 points for regional studies for GSM visas, the new second post study work visa which provides an extra year for those who have studied eligible courses in regional areas and perhaps most importantly there are more generous lists for the 491 visa. South Australia has a large range of nomination options for the 190 and 491. One of the longest state occupation lists. There are many strong reasons to consider moving to South Australia. In fact the South Australian Government has changed Immigration SA to the name ‘Move to South Australia’. However, when considering whether to move to South Australia there are a number of other considerations. These could include, how long have you got left on your current visa? Do you currently have any viable options in your current location? Do you have a good employer in your current location? Do you have strong family or friends supporting you in your current location. The answer as to whether you should move to South Australia or not will depend on a range of circumstances and we would be happy to discuss them with you if you contact us. Are you living in a reginal location which already has strong nomination options. Do you meet the minimum requirements in terms of state sponsored visas. 2. Why does the South Australian list keep changing? The reason that the list changes is because it is a live list. What this means is that South Australia each year will have a certain number of allocations which they can give for the 190 and a certain number of allocations they can give for the 491. For the 2021 year they have got just over 3,000 in total for both visas. So with that in mind, the South Australian Government will set numbers for each occupation which they have got planning levels in. Those numbers may not get released, but there are limits as to how many of any one occupation that a state government can sponsor in any one program year. 3. Should I change my course because my occupation was removed from the South Australian list? Be very careful before changing your course once you have commenced it, particularly if you're more than halfway through a course, then you could change course and affectively get no value for the study that you have done. Based on the migration program year, if it is getting towards the end of the migration program year, an occupation can be removed from the list and then it could be perhaps be put back on the list say from 1st July. If that was to happen and in between you have ceased studying that course, then that could have a very negative affect on your future prospects. 4. What is regional South Australia? For the purpose of the 491visa regional is anywhere outside of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The whole of South Australia is regional. 5. I have a small business, can I get South Australian State Sponsorship for a 491? You will need to meet the prerequisite requirements for a 491 visa. These include having a positive skills assessment on the list. Having at least competent English and having at least 65 points including the 15 points you get for 491 state nomination. The business owner has specific requirements which include, your business must be able to give you a personal income that would meet the TISMAT which is currently $53,900.00.
