【Hard Rock/Hair Metal】Icon - Danger Calling 1985~Emily's collection

【Pls look at the top comment first】For 1980s hair metal dreamers, nobody will forget this name. It's time to review a legendary page in hard rock/hair metal history. Speaking of Icon, this name is a real "ICON" of 1980s hair metal. When 1980s dreamers think of Icon, those impressive album covers immediately spring to mind like my today's uploading from "Night Of The Crime", featuring a torn-up poster with a girl holding a pistol on the cover. This five-piece line-up consists of the founding members of Icon. Before that, the predecessor of Icon was known as The Schoolboys in 1979, featuring Dan Wexler (guirars), Stephen Clifford (vocals) and Tracy Wallach (bass) as the original members, who were high school friends. Since Icon was formally formed in 1981 in Arizona with John Aquilino (guitars) and Pat Dixon (drums) joining the band, they opened up a new chapter in the following glorious years. During the following years all through Icon's history, they have experienced line-up changes more than twice. I trust almost every loyal fan knows there were two legendary singers (Stephen Clifford and Jerry Harrison) of Icon and both of them have made Icon stand out as an legendary band. This time I share this representative masterpiece "Danger Calling", featuring Stephen Clifford on vocals, included in their second studio album "Night Of The Crime (1985)", an everlasting monument among 1980s hair metal releases. "Night Of The Crime" was the last studio album when Stephen Clifford and John Aquilino performed in Icon. After their departure, Icon entered into new periods of Jerry Harrison's days. If it is your first time to hear Icon, I suggest you check out their first two albums "Icon (1984)" and "Night of the Crime (1985)" to hear Stephen Clifford's killer voice. Compared to their debut (1984), this album was more polished, produced and engineered by legendary producer, Eddie Kramer, an absolute epic release. Don't miss any stuffs of them. Then you'll find Icon can truly stand for both hard rock and melodic rock wizards after hearing their third album "More Perfect Union (1987)" performed by Jerry Harrison, which is the most underrated and the rarest melodic rock release of Icon. Actually, pure hard rock can be melodious since numerous examples in 1980s have already proved how beautiful those classic hair metals masterpieces are, including the works from this album of Icon, truly blessing for ears. Stephen Clifford did great jobs in Icon's first two studio albums as well as their early concert recorded in the Live Bootleg album (1984). With no weak songs in "Night Of The Crime", I highly recommend "Naked Eyes", "Missing", "Shot At My Heart", "Frozen Tears", "The Whites Of Their Eyes", "Hungry For Love" and my favourite "Danger Calling". This album reminds me of Dokken's guitar works from "Under Lock And Key (1985)" and Bonfire's arrangements and choruses from "Fire Works (1987)", but it came out earlier than both albums from Dokken and Bonfire, all of which are the 1980s epic monuments. From this album, duo guitars play vital roles on strong riffs and multi-leveled solos. Besides, the synths sounds can be heard from some of the tracks by Dan Wexler. In its entirety, at least three tracks from this album are wrriten and arranged in solid aor, also known as melodic hard rock style, with bright keys and hooky chouruses. Stephen Clifford left Icon after this album was released while Jerry Harrison became Icon's best replacement on vocals, whose voice sounds like the combination of David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Dave Meniketti (Y&T) and Al Fritsch (Drive She Said). Both wizards performed masterpieces in Icon, leaving re-released CDs to the world. In 2008, Icon reformed as Stephen Clifford gathered again with Dan Wexler and three members newly joined. Some people trust they never quit including me, so make their music spread as everlasting hit. Hope you could share this song with your friends or any potential hair metal lovers around you. Finally, check out "Icon Nation" on Facebook, that is a fan site to present historical photos and stories about Icon by sinere and strong love from fans' deepest hearts. #HardRock #HairMetal #Icon #StephenClifford #DanWexler
