With PDK, gear changes take place without any interruption in traction. This increases shifting comfort and improves acceleration values. Compared to the 718 models with a manual transmission, the 309 kW (420 hp) GT models 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 now sprint to 100 km/h half a second faster – in just 3.9 seconds. They reach the 200 km/h mark in 13.4 seconds (minus 0.4 seconds). The corresponding values ​​for the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and 718 Boxster GTS 4. 0 with 294 kW (400 hp) improves the standard sprint to 100 and 200 km/h by around half a second to 4.0 and 13.7 seconds respectively. (minus 0.4 seconds compared to the manual gearbox). In the 718 GTS 4.0 models, the standard Sport Chrono Package adjusts the shift characteristics of the PDK using four different driving programs (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual). In Sport mode, it works with faster gear changes, shifts down earlier with automatic double-declutching and supports optimal acceleration with later shift points. The even more consistently designed Sport Plus mode focuses on maximum performance and fully exploits the speed reserves of the six-cylinder boxer naturally aspirated engine. The launch control function, which activates an automated race start, is also stored in this driving program. The Sport Response button, located in the center of the mode switch, switches the response of the engine and transmission to maximum performance for 20 seconds, regardless of the current driving mode. The racing-inspired function supports spontaneous overtaking manoeuvres. In the top-of-the-line 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 models, the driving program has characteristics typical of a GT: it can be programmed for maximum performance using the PDK Sport button. An automatic selector lever in the 911 GT3 design underscores the emotional GT experience. The seventh gear of the PDK has a shorter translation in all 718 four-liter naturally aspirated engine derivatives. In addition, the PDK versions of the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 benefit from the greater effect of their mechanical rear axle differential lock: in traction and overrun mode, it achieves locking values ​​of 30 and 37 percent, compared to 22 and 27 percent with the manual transmission.
