All Babies Cry So Wait 12 Weeks – Is This Bad Advice for A Mum? "Calming Colic - How To Help The 10 Causes Of Colic" - ❤️ http://www.calmingcolic.com ❤️ All Babies Cry – Find Out Why So, my two pet hates, pieces of advice that mums get really regularly and they're always told this when they have an upset baby: (1) all babies cry; and (2) wait 12 weeks and then the colic will go or the crying will go or something along those lines. So, number (1), the babies that I'm seeing, that are coming in for treatment, they're excessively crying. These babies aren't crying because their nappy needs changing, they're hungry or they're tired. They're crying all the time and I think, as a mum, you will know the difference. You will have a baby that isn't right. They're excessively crying, they seem like they're in pain, they're upset and you'll just know that these babies aren't just crying because they're a baby. ....they will be crying for a reason, and that reason is usually revolved around something to do with their birth or antibiotics is a really common reason upsetting their tummy. So, those reasons can be addressed and I go through all of those reasons, in my book actually, Calming Colic: The 10 Causes of Colic. It's not just colic though, it's the 10 causes of a crying baby, really. Also, mums are told to wait 12 weeks, so if you have a baby like this that is crying constantly, like a baby I saw yesterday who has never slept more than an hour, and that baby is like, six or seven weeks old, so the mum's waiting and waiting and waiting. They possibly will get better. When they reach 12 weeks and they get better that is something to do with them being big enough, that the digestion is strong enough to work with it better, so they've kind of grown out of it, but other things that might have occurred at the birth, or the antibiotics, that may mean that they don't get better at 12 weeks. So, for example, antibiotics upset babies tummies. Your baby's 10 weeks old and has antibiotics at 10 weeks old, then they're not any better at 12 weeks. The colic symptoms could be starting at 10 weeks and going longer than 12 weeks. So, you can wait 12 weeks if you want. They may get better. Lots of babies probably do as their digestion matures, but if they're bad at two weeks do you want to wait another 10 weeks?
