London Weekend Television - 1983

Several leaders made for London Weekend Television (LWT) using moviebyu. I thought this was going to be an easy one. Just get some coloured cubes, stretch and distort them and you're done. Unfortunately when the cubes get stretched so far in one direction the Z-depth algorithm gets lost and has trouble calculating which surface is in front of the other. In the first renderings the blue, white and red surfaces kept flickering in and out of existence alternately covering and showing each other. The solution was simple. Instead of using just one stretched cube for a coloured section of a letter a whole series of cubes was used to construct the letters giving the Z-depth algorithm sufficient data to render correctly. The time required to render the frames increased by quite a bit though.
