Our industry is undergoing a rapid digital transformation. With smarter design software and better data management systems, we gain access to more data than ever before. What if we can harness this data to make swifter design decisions, be more efficient with our time or make valuable predictions early on in the process? In this webinar Sweco will illustrate two applications of AI within Sweco. Geotechnical soil characteristics interpolation: Josie Harrison, data scientist at Sweco will guide you through her MSc thesis research on interpolating cone penetration test (CPT) data to predict subsurface soil characteristics at the scale of a province. The prediction allows users to pick any location in the Netherlands and are given estimates for sleeve friction, cone resistance, and the inferred soil types. Sweco Master Connection: Developed in Sweco Finland in 2018/2019, the Master Connection tool suggests steel connections to the engineer based on the model’s intersecting elements. It moreover can scan the whole project on ‘perfect matches’. Erwin Jacobs, product developer at Sweco, will introduce you to the earlier stages of this project.
