My proposed performance for PTC 2020 in the professional Pole Classique category is a rock and roll circus! I would perform to the song Psycho Circus by KISS, and embody the character of a rogue ring master. The costume will feature a black and red jacket, with a pole costume underneath featuring high waisted shorts, a decorated bra or bikini style top, and smaller bottoms underneath the shorts, all done in silver, black and red. The song starts with some eerie circus/carnival sounds, for 20-30 seconds before the drums and guitar starts. During this time I will be standing at the back of the stage, with my back to the audience. Human props will wheel in guitar amplifiers , setting them on either side of the stage. I would like to incorporate the video backdrop during this time as well, perhaps showing a circus tent being raised. The song describes a grand and long awaited show, and welcomes the audience into the experience. The song has peaks and valleys, with slower sections that are perfect for sensual floor work as well as guitar driven sections that will be ideal for dynamic pole work. Sometime around the first chorus I will remove the ringmaster jacket. During the break, I will also remove the high waisted bottoms, revealing the smaller bottoms underneath. As the song builds back up to the final chorus, I want to highlight the lyric: “The amplifiers start to hum...” I would love to have rigged the amplifiers that I have placed stage with led strip lighting that can be turned on remotely at this point in the song, brightening the stage and adding to the climactic moment in the song! I believe I can create a high energy yet darkly sexy performance with this dark circus theme. I would love the chance to bring this vision to life on the pole theater stage and push myself to create a vividly engaging experience for the audience!
