Vintage Ronson Cook'N Stir Blender

This is the amazing 1960's Ronson Cook'n Stir Blender. Not only is it a blender but it also cooks the food in the blender container. At the beginning of the video you can see the water in the container is actually boiling and steam is coming out the lid. I almost burned my hand taking off the cap. The base of the glass carafe is metal and the carafe sits atop what is like a small hotplate with the drive shaft coming thru the center. As well there are 10 speeds. Five speeds are in the "stir" range where the blades only turn very gently and will not chop or liquify foods. Shift via the knob on the right hand side to "blend" and a heavy duty transmission moves the driveshaft into high speed mode and it works like a regular blender for chopping and liquifying. In the center is a dial thermostat for setting the temperature. After reaching the set temperature the thermostat cycles on and off to maintain the set temperature. The biggest drawback to this machine is the noise it makes. It's almost deafening to use and will drive you out of the kitchen. The machine is quite large and heavy and all metal construction with a 1 hp motor. The blades are about 6 inches across and can chop thru just about anything although I'm not going to try it because these are no longer made and parts haven't been available for over 20 years. Ronson of cigarette lighter fame was the manufacturer of this and other assorted small appliances back in the 60's
