SOUNDBITE: (Dari) Zamary Bashari, Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman: "It is really sad to hear of casualties on the UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan) side, a diplomatic institution, an unarmed institution so to speak, and also the people, the civilians who were demonstrating, so it requires a thorough investigation and some more time is needed, so we can answer questions in more detail." 6. Wide of news conference STORYLINE: Authorities in Afghanistan promised a full investigation on Saturday into the attack on a United Nations compound in the north of the country which killed seven foreigners on Friday. Afghans angry over the burning of a Quran at a small Florida church stormed the compound, and in the violence which followed, four Nepalese guards and three civilian UN staff were killed. At a news conference on Saturday, Interior Ministry spokesman Zamary Bashari said there were also casualties amongst the Afghans, with four killed and 23 wounded. They earlier announced the arrest of more than 20 people, including a militant they suspect was the ringleader of Friday's assault in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh province, which is on a list of the first seven areas of the country where Afghan security forces are slated to take over from the US-led coalition starting in July. The topic of Quran burning stirred outrage among (m) millions of Muslims and others worldwide after the Reverend Terry Jones' small church, Dove Outreach Centre, threatened to destroy a copy of the holy book last year. The pastor backed down, but the church in Gainesville, Florida, went through with the burning last month.
