Want to invest in the Lavenham Blue Collection 2025? https://www.thewoolpatch.com/shop/c/p... Want to see where the farm and the sheep? • Lavenham Blue 2025 Collection Announcement... This short video explains the colour blues on offer and how to choose When dyeing with woad (indigo) you can get two types of outcomes. A - Tonal Solid (Types 1 to 4) B - Variegated (Type 5) A is pretty much a solid colour of blue - there may be a few tonal shifts but the indigo is covering all the natural white. In places you may get the odd tonal shift in the blues, but pretty much its a solid one colour blue - see shades 1 through 4. The shades of blue are always consistent and I would say there are 4 types of blue from woad on any dyeing day; 1. Dark Denim (rare - request only) 2. Denim 3. Sky 4. Aqua (hints of turquoise/green) Then we have 5. Variegated: This by design or accident! Think of these ones like your 80's tie dye shirts. I can use resists to protect the white so it doesn't all turn blue. This can be simply by folding it on itself, or using string, ribbon etc to protect the white from the blue. Or it can simply be by having fun with the TIME spent in the vat. So some of the yarn can be paler blue by having less time. Some can simply be accidents. I didn't 'massage' the yarn enough in the vat for full coverage, so the end result has 'blobs' of blue or bits of white under the ties etc. There will always be some of these. IMPORTANT If you would like a specific shade of blue, then this PRE ORDER is perfect for you as this is when I'm dyeing the collection! So leave a 'note' in the checkout section with your preferred colours and I will dye your blue to order with pleasure! If you want a mix, then please just leave a message. You can always say you want a FADE of 4 plus 2 Variegateds etc. Just let me know in the special NOTE section that will appear at checkout. SHIPPING Once the postcards and labels are printed I aim to launch and ship August. What is the 2025 Collection? It's 100% Ryeland LAMBSWOOL from farmer/Shepherdess Ros and her farm in Hadleigh, Suffolk, 20 minutes from my shop. It is 4ply/fingering weight. 375m/410yd to a hank. Woollen spun. The lambswool does have a big impact on the feel of this yarn. It is still a woolly, 'toothy' yarn. However, much softer than last years which was the ewe's from the same farm.
