In this video I translated a popular TikTok song Dream of the West Land, and this is the 1st video with English subtitles. My favourite part is from 4:11. I spent a week on this. Hope you enjoy it! Lyrics: 吹梦到西洲 Dreaming of West Land （妖扬）(Yao Yang sing) 无何化有 感物知春秋 From the void sprang out a west land, where lives thrived with time. 秋毫濡沫欲绸缪 搦管相留 My ink drenched pen left its image abandoned on my painting. （黄诗扶）(Huang Shifu sing) 留骨攒峰 留容映水秀 I had drawn high ranges with sunshine reflecting lakes at forth, 留观四时曾邂逅 佳人西洲 to expel scenery of the four seasons, where I dreamt of meeting my beauty strolling alone. （妖扬） 西洲何有 远树平高丘 Where was this west land? On those hills where dense forest grew, 云闲方外雨不收 稚子牵牛 with clouds sailing high above, in the drizzle was a lad with his grazing cow. （黄诗扶） 闹市无声 百态阴晴栩栩侔 In this peaceful land people lead a life of harmony, 藤衣半卷苔衣皱 岁月自无忧 simple clothes, mossy wall and bliss. （妖扬） 驾马驱车 尚几程扶摇入画中 咫尺 Once you float into the painting within a sprint on the carriage, （黄诗扶） 径曲桥横 精诚难通 Now between us are winding paths and dazzling bridges. My longings can't a way. （黄诗扶、妖扬） 盼你渡口 待你桥头 I can only await for you on my ferry by the bridge. （黄诗扶、妖扬） 松香接地走 With the ground ink, 挥癯龙绣虎出怀袖 I went on drawing lines on the paper similar to slim dragons and tigers., 起微石落海连波动 Like lingering ripples caused by a stone falling into the sea 描数曲箜篌线同轴 and the parallel strings of konghou(an acient plucked stringed) 勒笔烟直大漠 沧浪盘虬 When I stopped my pen, there was an endless desert of rising smoke and rolling waves which looks like flood dragons. 一纸淋漓漫点方圆透 I drew them in a swift, the whole paper was filled with inked scenery. 记我 长风万里绕指未相勾 It was thousand miles away from me and I couldn’t keep my promise to thee. 形生意成 此意 逍遥不游 With our hearts attached, my longings for you will not change no matter how I live.(This sentence really not easy to understand in Chinese. I assume it is this meaning). （妖扬） 日月何寿 江海滴更漏 As long as the sun and the moon exist in this world. Till the sea spills its last drop. 爱向人间借朝暮 悲喜为酬 Love take away people’s life time filled with emotions as return. （黄诗扶） 种柳春莺 知它风尘不可救 Waiting to see you, I grew into a willow, old enough for the orioles 绵绵更在三生后 谁隔世读关鸠 Yet, shall I never lose belief on this poem of love. （妖扬） 诗说红豆 遍南国未见人长久 见多少 Red bean (that symbolize eternal love) had been abundant in southern region. Hence, I didn't see people there stay together for long. （黄诗扶） 来时芳华 去时白头 In their youth they came and went away with white-hairs. （黄诗扶、妖扬） 忘你不舍 寻你不休 I can’t forget you. I won’t stop searching for you. （黄诗扶、妖扬） 画外人易朽 In reality we age quickly. 似浓淡相间色相构 Like destiny runs this world so does the colours of the painting. 染冰雪先披琉璃胄 Destiny can cover ppl with crystal snow, making them look like vagabonds, 蘸朱紫将登金银楼 or dress them up in fineries only for them to stand on a tower of silver-gold overlooking the world. 天命碧城灰土 刀弓褐锈 It can also turn a vivid city into grey dust, and rust the iron weapons. 举手夜古泼断青蓝右 But between every rise of my arm, l leave an impression on my art. 照我 萤灯嫁昼只影归洪流 I am just a dim ray of sunlight 身魂如寄 此世 逍遥不游 with my body and soul entraped in this world （黄诗扶） 情一物 无木成林无水行舟 Love is as unreasonable as a forest without trees and a boat floating in air. 情一事 未算藏谋真还谬 Love is like a mirage. 情一人 积深不厚积年不旧 Love is that, someone who never feels enough to give or change one's heart with time. 情一念 墨尽非空 百代飞白骤 划地为囚 Love is an emotion that can write words without ink, it can glue two souls even after 100 generations. （妖扬） 蓝田需汲酒 惟琼浆能浇美玉瘦 Only good wine can polish their Jade vessels. 至高者清难垢 至贵者润因愁 Wine can definitely remind the rich of their sorrows, but will never affect a noble-mind. 痴竭火 知她不能求 After the fire of love extinguished, she knew she can’t wait for him any longer. 醉逢歌 知他不必候 And after hearing a song being drunk, he knew it was useless to wait for her. 只约灵犀过隙灵光暗相投 Just wishing a dim possibility in destiny could enable them to meet. （黄诗扶、妖扬） 万籁停吹奏 As the silence of nature welcomes the night. 支颐听秋水问蜉蝣 With chin on my hand I listened to the sounds of the autumn river while asking the mayfly: 既玄冥不可量北斗 While even immortals can't predict our destiny with the Big Dipper(the Big Dipper is used for astrology), 却何信相思最温柔 how can I believe in meeting my distant love? 顾盼花发鸿蒙 怦然而梦 Looking back on how the flower of our love bloomed from nothing, I suddenly dream of: 你与二十八宿皆回眸 you looking back at me from among the 28 Lunar Mansions, likely to dissapear soon. 系我 彩翼鲸尾红丝天地周 I want to tie red silk to our hearts and fly together to every corner of the world. 情之所至 此心 逍遥不游 My heart will never change no matter wherever I travel.
