As the cool of winter starts to creep in, the herd makes the most of the warm morning sun with a splash in the mud. Mud baths are more than just fun; they help protect the elephants' skin from the sun and insects and keep them cool and comfortable. Lundi, who isn’t the biggest fan of swimming, makes the most of the mud, splashing around with evident delight. Also in the mix is Kumbura, once a frightened orphan, now a calm and confident young elephant thanks to the care and guidance of elephants like Tokwe, Lundi and Sebakwe. She has become a devoted allomother, always keeping a close eye on the little ones. It’s elephants like Lundi, who take in orphaned calves as her own, and Jabulani, the first to be rescued and now a guiding older brother for the younger elephants, who shape this herd into the family it is.
