This is a 1970 Austin America automatic. The engine has somewhere around 30,000 miles on it, and the transmission has a build date after the engine was made in 1971, suggesting it was a dealer replacement in the mid-70s. The transmission shares the motor oil with the engine, and can shift 4 speeds automatically, or you can select the individual gears as seen in the latter part of this video. This gearbox had all of the revisions that many cars here in the US did not, including the pre-oiler pump that prevented the 3-4 engine surge between shifts, and the quiet engagement into drive and reverse thanks to a revision valve that held the gears until it was fully engaged, eliminating a hard CLUNK heard on earlier versions of the transmission. Bands have been adjusted and it's probably as perfectly-running a transmission of this type as you would find these days.
