I purchased this 1957 Tonka Gambles Convenience Store Semi Truck on eBay March 2023 for $172.00. It was in perfect shape for a restoration, in rough condition and mostly complete. The body was really rusty, especially on one side. The interior had been a home for spiders for some time, which probably live in my basement now. As this truck was stored there until this video was started. Originally I thought it was should have been a tandem rear wheel, however after making the tandem axle plate and additional hub caps, I found out it was originally only a single rear wheel trailer assembly. I decided to leave it a tandem even though I know it was incorrect. Out of everything I made for this restoration I enjoyed making the mud flaps the most. This was my first time engraving rubber on the CO2 laser. I really love stamping my own hub caps as well, using the die I made in a previous video. I'm not 100% happy with the decals and honestly am looking for a great decal printer / cutter to buy. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear what they are.
