We went on an afternoon safari in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most famous national park – and it completely blew our minds. This is hands down one of the wildest experiences we’ve had so far on our travels. We saw a leopard, a sloth bear, elephants, and so many other animals — all in a single afternoon! Yes, it was busy. There were loads of jeeps, especially at the hotspots. But we decided to do things a bit differently. Instead of racing to sightings or getting caught up in the chaos, we took our time, followed our instincts (and an incredible guide), and ended up having a far more intimate and authentic safari experience. Yala has a bit of a reputation – some people say it’s too crowded, too touristy, and not worth it. Others claim it’s the best place in Sri Lanka to see wildlife. So we went in with mixed expectations… and left absolutely buzzing. In this video, we take you along for the ride, from the moment we enter the park to the final moments watching the sun set.
