Does blue light exposure affect your sleep? | Sleep Myths Debunked

Does blue light exposure affect your sleep ? - Sleep Myths Debunked It's always best to watch the entire video so that you can see the step-by-step explanation I use in my practice helping clients. But here are some chapters for you: 00:00 Introduction to blue light exposure and how it affects your sleep 02:17 Teaching Sleep Skills for Life 03:41 Blue light exposure and its influence on your sleep 04:20 Distribution of light exposure across your everyday 09:09 Heightened emotions regarding being exposed to too much blue light late at night 12:25 Consuming information using technology even when using blue light blocking glasses 15:31 Conclusion about blue light exposure and how it affects your sleep Blue light exposure has been in the news for a few years now. The increase in technology use has naturally led to being exposed to more blue light on a daily basis. But how does blue light exposure affect your sleep? Can it be the reason why you’re struggling to fall asleep easily? In today’s video, I’ll share with you some very practical ways you can assess your situation and figure out if blue light has a negative influence on your sleep problems. Of course, as always, I’ll explain the effect of blue light exposure in a practical way and how I see it relates to clients I work with in my private sleep coaching practice. Natural light and blue light affect sleep in different ways and these links have been researched for a number of years now. There is more and more evidence that there is a link between blue light and sleep disruption but it’s a bit more complex than the headlines suggest. So just wearing blue light glasses or blue light blocking glasses will not always work and I’ve seen this many times when working with clients who struggled with falling asleep in the evening. When we talked about blue light exposure and its effect on your sleep disruptions we cannot only talk about the physiological impact of the light source itself, as I mentioned in today’s video we have to look at the emotional and mental components of why you might not be able to fall asleep easily at night or sleep through the night without problems. When we look at this overall picture, blue light exposure will only be a part of the bigger picture, so it’s important that we look at what is happening for you in relation to the use of technology and the exposure of blue light in your daily activities. If you have any questions about what I shared with you in today’s video or other myths or advice you’ve seen online, feel free to let me know.
