Teaching and learning science can be fun and interesting when the topics are taught in an interactive manner and are related to the child's surroundings. LESSON ------------- Everything that surrounds us forms our environment. Harmful changes made in the environment due to human activities are called pollution. There are mainly four types of pollution. Air Pollution Industries and vehicles are the main sources of air pollution. Burning of garbage also leads to air pollution. Air pollution may cause a number of deadly diseases such as lung caner and asthma. Water Pollution Industries are a major source of water pollution. Toxic household and industrial wastes released into water bodies pollutes them. Land Pollution Dumping of solid wastes such as plastic bags, glass bottles, and metal containers cause land pollution. Roots of trees hold the soil together. Deforestation causes strong winds and water to carry soil particles with them leading to soil erosion ( wearing away of topsoil). Noise Pollution Vehicles, loudspeakers etc. are the sources of noise pollution.
