Seochon Village(서촌 마을) 'Seochon' is a village in the western part of Gyeongbokgung Palace. To be exact, it refers to the area between the east side of Inwangsan Mountain and the west side of Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the area of Cheongunhyo-dong and Sajik-dong. Unlike Bukchon, which is famous for its tourist attractions, Seochon Alley is not friendly. There are no milestones, so people often get lost between alleys. Still, Seochon Alley looks more familiar than Bukchon, where magnificent hanoks are gathered. When you meet the improved hanok, which has added time around the alley that runs like a thread, you think of the neighborhood you used to live in when you were young. Get out of Gyeongbokgung Station on Subway Line 3, cross Hyoja-ro to find a story along an alley connected like a spider's web. ‘서촌’은 경복궁 서쪽에 있는 마을을 일컫는 별칭이다. 정확하게 말하면 인왕산 동쪽과 경복궁 서쪽 사이, 청운효자동과 사직동 일대를 뜻한다. 관광 명소로 유명세를 탄 북촌과 달리 서촌 골목은 친절하지 않다. 이정표가 없어 골목과 골목 사이에서 길을 잃기 일쑤. 그래도 서촌 골목은 으리으리한 한옥이 모여 있는 북촌보다 낯이 익다. 실핏줄처럼 이어진 골목을 돌아 세월을 덧댄 개량 한옥을 만나면 어릴 적 살던 동네가 떠오른다. 지하철 3호선 경복궁역에서 나와 효자로를 건너 거미줄처럼 연결된 골목을 따라 이야기를 찾아 나선다.
