Nearly two dozen Stony Brook University students, two faculty members and five others were arrested following continued pro-Palestinian protests on campus, the university president said. Meanwhile, a Jewish heritage event took place in front of the Staller Center — the same site where the protesters had been arrested and evicted hours earlier. The event got underway amid heavy security — campus police erected wood barriers and put up yellow police tape to control access to the site. It appeared initially to attract about 50 people, a far sparser crowd than the 500 who came last year, according to event organizers. A group of pro-Palestinian students gathered on a walkway above the site complaining about what they called excessive police force used in the arrests.
