Setting the Maximum Segment Size for a socket manually

The MSS is the largest size of a packet that can be sent over a network without being fragmented. Fragmentation is when a packet is broken up into smaller pieces so that it can fit through a network with a smaller MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit). The MTU of a network is determined by the physical layer of the network, such as Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The MTU of an Ethernet network is typically 1500 bytes. The MTU of a Wi-Fi network can vary depending on the type of Wi-Fi network. If you are sending a packet that is larger than the MTU of the network, the packet will be fragmented. This can cause performance problems, such as latency and dropped packets.
