The bits stored in such registers can be made to move within the registers and in/out of the registers by applying clock pulses. Serial-In Parallel-Out (SiPo) is the type of register that is used in the BCD counter in which JK-Flipflops are cascaded and their output are obtained through parallel meaning the signal produced by the Q of each flipflops are used. Then the BCD output is decoded to produce a signal that will represent the input pins for the 7-segment display according to the decimal value of the BCD.
