An 18 year old college athlete was at baseball practice when an errant pitch hit him in the face and broke his jaw. He is unable to open his mouth, his bite feels off, and the broken pieces of his jaw are moving independently of each other. We are going to review the workup of this patient, the imaging, the treatment options and ultimately the treatment I decided on. This is a great review of treatment modalities for mandible fractures and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
