At the age of 25, in 1923, just a couple of years after World War 1, Pietro Ferrero decided to put up his own pastry shop in Dogliani, Italy. Pietro's humble beginnings brought forth brands such as Nutella, Tic Tac, Kinder, and most importantly, Ferrero Rocher. As of 2019, Ferrero SpA is the second biggest confectionery conglomerate in the world. It is estimated that at least 3.6 billion Ferrero Rochers are sold every year in over 40 countries. Three generations of Pietro Ferrero’s have led the company into bringing its products to over 170 countries. They have over 31 manufacturing plants around the world, and they employ a little under 40,000 people.  Despite their size, the Ferrero SpA remains as a family-run business, with Giovanni Ferrero, Pietro Ferrero’s grandson at the helm.
