Fix Website Insecure Error | Website Security | Web Development | Build a Website | Website Errors https://profiletree.com/small-busines... Welcome to this ProfileTree video! In this video, we show you how you can fix an insecure website error either during the development of your business website or once your website is live to the public. A website insecure error typically refers to a lack of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate on the website or an improperly installed SSL certificate. The SSL certificate is what allows websites to move from HTTP to HTTPS, which is a more secure connection. Here's how to fix this error: Purchase an SSL Certificate: If your website doesn't have an SSL certificate, the first step is to purchase one. Many web hosting companies in the UK offer SSL certificates as part of their hosting packages. You can also purchase one from a third-party provider. Install the SSL Certificate: Once you've purchased the SSL certificate, the next step is to install it on your website. This usually involves copying and pasting a few lines of code into your website's configuration. If you're unsure how to do this, it's best to reach out to your hosting provider for assistance. Update Your Website to Use HTTPS: After the SSL certificate is installed, you'll need to update your website to use HTTPS instead of HTTP. This can usually be done within your website's settings. Check for Mixed Content: If your website is still showing as insecure after installing the SSL certificate and switching to HTTPS, you may have mixed content on your website. This means that while your website is loading over HTTPS, some resources (like images, videos, or scripts) are being loaded over HTTP. These HTTP links need to be updated to HTTPS. There are online tools available that can help identify and resolve mixed content issues. Redirect HTTP to HTTPS: Lastly, set up a permanent 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS so that all users and search engines are directed to the secure version of your site. This can typically be done through your website's .htaccess file or through settings in your hosting control panel. Update Your Website Details: Make sure to update your website details on Google Search Console and other similar services to reflect the change to HTTPS. Renew Your SSL Certificate: SSL certificates need to be renewed periodically (usually annually), so make sure you keep track of when your SSL certificate is due for renewal to avoid your site becoming insecure again. Remember, it's critical to back up your website before making any major changes. If you're uncomfortable making these changes yourself, it might be best to hire a professional or seek help from your hosting provider. Did you love this video?
