All the other players are a good distance behind the person, trying to make their way towards him or her. The "it" person says, “Red light, green light, one, two, three!” and then turns around towards the players. At that point they must freeze in place. If any of them are caught moving at that point, they are eliminated from the game. This was the first game introduced on the show, and so no one had any idea just what ‘elimination’ meant. Here, it meant getting shot and killed. Add to this the creepiness of the giant animatronic robot girl doing the counting, and you have the stuff of nightmares. Gi-hun almost fell face-forward during the game, but was grabbed and held in place by Player 199, escaping death in the process.
