Hype-1 : A Customized Embedded Micro-computer(HD)

HYPE-1 is an 8085 (Micro-processor) based Micro-Computer which is developed specifically for embedded systems (An embedded system is some combination of computer hardware and software, either fixed in capability or programmable that is specifically designed for a particular function. For e.g.: Industrial machines, automobiles, medical equipment, cameras, household appliances, airplanes, vending machines, smart phones etc.) which provides an easier way to develop embedded systems. It is operated by its own 8- bit Operating System for managing all the input/output, hardware’s and applications for users. It contains a touchscreen and a keypad for input and a LCD screen for its output .Our micro-computer provides a platform by which we will be able to use this computer as any embedded system without any programming. We do not requires to design the Whole system circuit for the system again and again, removing the complexity for designing system. Only the required input is to be provided for the system and selecting the right library from the pre-stored library. Using micro-controller for developing new system is a difficult task as it requires to develop the whole system from beginning, interfacing all hardware and input/output functions. It is also difficult to use another application in a pre-designed micro-controller based system. We should design the new system and create software for that application. Using general computer, it is difficult to customize the system as required and is very expensive. HYPE-1 is already a complete system consisting all the basic hardware and software required for the system. It can run various applications in the same system removing the difficulties that we face during system development with micro-controllers. It makes easier and faster to develop new applications and test it without the requirement of changing the hardware. It removes the gap between computer and micro-controller providing the environment of computer in a smaller and cheap system. Using micro-processor, it provides flexibility to HYPE-1 to be customized or expanded for further development according to requirements. It contains all the drivers required for the input and output for display. It provides built-in libraries for various embedded applications which makes is capable for running various applications without requirement of developing software for those systems. It can be used in educational field for learning the basics to design the embedded systems and can be used as prototype development board for developing further systems and applications in embedded systems. The demo video shows the operation of micro-computer. It shows two application of the micro-computer which is used for monitoring and analysis in embedded systems: Oscilloscope and Control Program. The computer takes input from variable resistor which represents the information from the environment like temperature, pressure etc. and works according to the application. It uses ATMEGA 328P micro-controller for display unit(used for serial USART communication ) and touch screen co-ordination . IT contains 2K EEPROM and 4K RAM. It uses 8255 for I/O intefacing.
