Here's something interesting. This episode and the later one with Joe Chill both have a flashback scene where the Waynes enter Crime Alley. But there are many minor differences. In this one, when the Waynes exit the theatre, Bruce looks forlorn, and what happens in Crime Alley doesn't take as long. In the other, Bruce is upbeat, and Chill threatens the Waynes before he does it. Now, obviously, it's more likely that the writers forgot how they had done it the first time, or they didn't think it really mattered. But narratively, it could also suggest that Bruce was remembering what happened the first time more negatively because of the proximity of Christmas and how broken up he is about it. So the next time he remembers it, Bruce's mind is more focused on trying to find Chill. So his memory is more fixated on him. Which, to me, is quite similar to how people will remember the same event differently. based on their feelings about it. And what details stood out to them. Want to support me?
