The Active Volcano in Iceland; Grímsvötn

The most active volcano in all of Iceland is the towering glacier covered peak known as Grímsvötn. This volcano produced one of the deadliest eruptions in human history in 1783-1785, and produced a large explosive eruption in 2011. Grímsvötn has erupted 77 times in the last 1,000 years, and is likely leading towards another new eruption in the next 1 to 2 years.
