Tight Iliacus Test and Release with The Hip Hook!

In this video, I will be assessing Mariah @coachmariahpainfreefitness using the typical method that I start with when assessing a patient for an iliacus or a pelvic rotation issue. She was anxious to try the Hip Hook but I thought we should determine what her issues might be prior and do a little pre- and post-test. You can see from her assessment that her pelvis is rotated and that when she used the Hip Hook it realigned. It’s magic! The iliacus and the psoas make up what is commonly called your "hip flexor." These 2 muscles have an important job, to connect the upper part of your body to the lower half! Although these muscles are also responsible for flexing your hip (bringing it forward), their main job is to help hold your spine, pelvis, and hip together. The iliacus and psoas are called the iliopsoas together. They often time contract and stay knotted up when the body is either too mobile or if those muscles are overused. Because we need them to stabilize us, activities like sitting, running, biking, kicking, and weight lifting are common causes of tightness along with too much stretching like yoga and dance. Pelvic rotation can create pelvic pain, SI joint pain, lower back pain, and hip pain. __________________________________________ Created by a physical therapist, the Hip Hook is the world’s first tool designed for psoas release AND iliacus release. Just a few minutes a day with the Hip Hook can provide long-term pain relief to the lower back, hips, tailbone, knees, and feet. Tightness in the iliacus and psoas is directly connected to many different kinds of pain throughout the body because its tightness rotates the pelvis and twists the body out of alignment.
