Groo: The Game (based on the unforgettable comics drawn by Sergio Aragonés)

Groo is one of my favourite comic book characters (by leaps and bounds). I still remember the first day I stumbled upon a copy at a convenience store... We were visiting my great aunt and uncle in a nearby city and I was bored out of my mind so I asked if I could go grab a mag or comic at the store across the street. There it was - Issue 30!! Ever since, I have been a big fan of Groo and his faithful silent partner (and also the brains of the operation), Ruferto. In the game you are trying to build the most prestigious town and a small army to defend it. The army can usually hold its own vs neighbouring powers. Unfortunately, Groo keeps finding his way back and then anything is possible. Did you just spend sweat, kopins, and tears building a brand new shipyard? Perfect... once Groo arrives it will almost undoubtedly be in splinters. This game is yet another "take that" style affair. The artwork is great like only Aragonés can do. Game play is meh / ok. I think there is a much better design waiting in the wings for the superb character development from the comic series. Maybe that should be my next project? Please note, this copy includes the Expansion Set deck as well. Thanks for watching!
