To get started, we will need to download the Midnight Controls mod. There is a link to download Midnight Controls in the description above. This will take you to the official MidnightControls download page. MidnightControls is the Minecraft Java controller mod that allows you to use a controller in Java Edition. On the MidnightControls page, click on the “Versions” tab, and then filter for the Fabric version of MidnightControls and the version of the controller mod you want. Click the download button next to the version you want, and the controller mod will begin downloading. Now, we need to download the FabricAPI mod. There is a link in the description above to download the FabricAPI. That will take you to our guide on getting the FabricAPI. Click the Download FabricAPI button, and you will go to the official download page. Click on the “Files” tab, and download the FabricAPI for the version of Minecraft you are adding the Minecraft controller mod to. Lastly, you will need to download and install the Fabric Mod Loader. After you have the Fabric Mod Loader installed, we can move on to how to install the Minecraft Java controller mod. To do this, open up the Minecraft Launcher, and click the “Installations” tab at the top. Here, you will see a “Fabric” installation. Hover over this, and click the folder icon that appears. This will open your .minecraft folder. In your .minecraft folder, you should have a “mods” folder. If you don’t have a mods folder, just create one! Open the mods folder, and drag-and-drop the MidnightControls mod and the FabricAPI mod into the mods folder. It’s that easy to add the controller mod to Minecraft Java. Now, we need to play Minecraft with the Fabric installation. If you don’t play Minecraft using your Fabric installation, the controller mod won’t work. Once you are in-game with the Minecraft Java controller mod, plug your controller into your computer. When you do this, Minecraft will recognize the controller, and you will be able to navigate the main menu using your controller. You can go to Options and Controls, there will be a button in the top right where you can change your controls with the controller.
