I decided to make a video dedicated to the 1967-1968 WBA Heavyweight Tournament because it was full of good fighters, good fights and shows a long gone great decade of Boxing. Jerry Quarry - Nicknamed "Irish" or "The Bellflower Bomber," was an American heavyweight boxer. Quarry was rated by Ring Magazine as the most popular fighter in the sport, from 1968–1971, during the peak of his career. Thad Spencer - Was an American heavyweight boxer and top contender during the mid 1960's. He held a professional record of 32-13 with 14 knockouts. Leotis Martin - Was an American boxer, the first ever NABF heavyweight champion and best known for his victory over former heavyweight champion Sonny Liston. Martin was a good puncher and a fairly skilled heavyweight who fought from 1962 to 1969. He compiled a record of 31 wins (19 KOs) and 5 losses and in 2003 was named to the Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time. His career, however, was marked by inconsistency and bad luck. Ernie Terrell - was an American singer, record producer, and World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight boxing champion. At 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m), he was very tall, by the standards of the day. By comparison, Muhammad Ali was 6 ft 3 in, and Joe Frazier was 5 ft 11 in. Terrell was the older brother of The Supremes' early 1970s lead singer Jean Terrell. In the 1960s, she sang with his group, "Ernie Terrell & the Heavyweights". Oscar Bonavena - Was an Argentinian heavyweight professional boxer with a career record of 58 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw. A rugged, wild-swinging puncher, he was nicknamed "Ringo" because of his Beatles haircut, and enjoyed professional success in both Argentina and the United States. He is most famous for giving both Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali tough battles. Karl Mildenberger - Is a retired German heavyweight boxer. He was the European Heavyweight Champion from 1964 to 1968 (retained the Title 6 times). Mildenberger fought Muhammad Ali for the World Heavyweight Title in September 1966. Mildenberger, a left-hander, frustrated the champ for most of the fight, but ultimately lost by TKO when the referee stopped the fight at 1:28 of the twelfth round following a flurry of punches by Ali. Floyd Patterson - Was an American professional boxer and former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. At 21, Patterson became the youngest man to win the world heavyweight title. He was also the first heavyweight boxer to regain the title. He had a record of 55 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw, with 40 wins by knockout. He won the gold medal at the 1952 Olympic Games as a middleweight. Jimmy Ellis - Was an American professional boxer. Ellis was a WBA world heavyweight champion, which he won for his victory over Jerry Quarry in 1968.
