Established in 1912 Lithgow small arms factory played an important role in World War 1 and World War 2. It was created by Australian government to lessen it's dependence on British arms supply during the wars. Its about 2 minutes drive from Lithgow main street and 2 hours 10 minutes from Sydney. Visting this museum is one of the important things to do in Lithgow, NSW. It features large collection light weaponry from all over the world. It is listed in UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Register for it's influential collection. The second part of the mesuem is where all the fabrication machines are installed.
