5 Female Blues Guitarists You Haven't Heard ★ Acoustic Tuesday

5 Female blues guitarists, ‪@MuleResonatorGuitars‬ new hybrid, and...‪@JasonMomoa‬ playing guitar? All this and MORE on Acoustic Tuesday! Before I begin, I want to thank everyone who has been suggesting other acoustic blues musicians, especially those that asked for more female blues guitarists! The first female blues guitarist you need to check out is Elizabeth Cotton. Known for playing the guitar upside-down, Elizabeth Cotton is an INSPIRATION to all guitarists — be sure to check out her full discovery. The second female blues guitarist you need to know on my list is Etta Baker. Born in North Carolina, Etta Baker is an incredible acoustic blues guitarist. Her fingerpicking and tone is a joy to watch and listen to. The third female blues guitarist you NEED to listen to is Memphis Minnie. Born in 1897, Memphis Minnie didn't always play guitar on her records, but she has a LEGENDARY discography filled with fun, raunchy songs (especially for the time!). The fourth female blues guitarist on my list is Algia Mae Hinton. Whether you watch her fingerpicking or listen to the phrasing in her singing, Algia Mae Hinton is absolutely a female blues guitarist that you can't skip. Finally, my number one pick for female blues guitarists you need to know is Jessie Mae Hemphill. For someone that oozes the blues and has that tone that no one else has, Jessie Mae Hemphill is for you. Her genre of acoustic blues is called North Mississippi Hill Country Blues! Up next, I'll show you a sneak peek at the 5-day blues challenge that's starting on January 27th! In just 2 weeks, you'll be able to learn some new blues techniques and expand your vision of your blues guitar playing. After that, I'll be showing you the Mule "Mavis" which is a semi-hollow guitar made with all-roasted Michigan maple. For a guitar that's a cross between a resonator and an archtop, look no further than Mule's "Mavis." And...speaking of Mule Guitars, I have some footage of Matt from‪@MuleResonatorGuitars‬ delivering a custom guitar to Jason Mamoa.
