The test is not by any means the most accurate, but if it's all you have available to you it is worth giving it a try. All you need is some white vinegar of any brand and a container to dip your gold jewellery into. It does not matter whether you have yellow, white or rose gold. A legit piece of jewellery will not begin to peel into another color. Having said that it's very important to keep in mind that if the piece peels and/or changes colors its not real gold, if it doesn't do any of the previously stated things It can still possibly be a fake piece of jewellery. I tested 5 Chains in Total knowing in advance that only 1 was actually 18k Gold. However, the test result showed that only 1 of the chains(the last one) wasn't gold. The test is not reliable and the results should be questioned. However, if it's all you got It could give you a very rough idea of what it could be.
